Supporting Proximate Leaders

We provide tools to groups to social changemakers tackling difficult issues in their own communities, and award micro-grants to many of them to lead projects that can have major impacts. Examples of projects that we have supported in the past include: machinery for making bricks out of recycled plastic  bottles; testing kits for cervical cancer treatment, participation in a conference, and much more.

Jimmy Kosa, 2021

"LBF's seed grant propelled our transition from drugstore to medical clinic, broadening our capabilities. It instilled confidence in me, catalyzing my dedication to the venture. This initial support sparked self-belief, enabling me to confidently engage potential funders. Presently, our network includes LBF, Kapadia Education Foundation, The Pollination Project, Norwegian Refugee Council, Hope Transformation Association, and WENIPS (a national NGO in Uganda).

The skills acquired from LBF, coupled with your recommendations, have facilitated grant acquisitions extending beyond our initial venture. External grants have made projects like our 2022 Ebola awareness campaign and current menstrual hygiene project achievable. Additionally, these skills led to a scholarship for pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.”
